- Service providers who support our practice operations (e.g. practice management software, hosting providers), under confidentiality obligations
- Regulatory bodies, where required by law (e.g. HPCSA, Department of Health)
We do not transfer your personal information outside South Africa unless a service provider we use requires it, and only where equivalent data protection safeguards are in place.
How long we keep your information
We retain medical records for the period required by the HPCSA and South African health record-keeping regulations (generally a minimum of 6 years from the last date of treatment, longer for minors). Website enquiry data not linked to a patient file is retained only as long as necessary to respond to your query.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Request confirmation of what personal information we hold about you
- Request access to your personal information, including your medical records
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
- Object to the processing of your personal information, in certain circumstances
- Request that we delete or destroy personal information we are not legally required to keep
